Gudi Padwa - A Beginning Of a New Year

Gudi Padwa - A Beginning Of  a New Year

Gudi is the phrase used to refer to Brahma’s flag while Padva is derived from the Sanskrit phrase Paddava or Paddavo which refers to the first day of the vibrant segment of the moon.  This festival revolves around the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Laxman from exile. The ‘Brahmadhvaj’ or ‘the flag of Brahma’ (other names for the Gudi) is hoisted in memory of the crowning of Lord Rama.
The primary reason in the back of this day being viewed as the first day of the year is that, during the first day of Chaitra month, the sun states itself at a position above Vasant intersection, which is the point of intersection of the equator and the meridians. This function of the sun denotes the graduation of the season of spring. the Brahma Purana states that Lord Brahma recreated the world after a wrathful downpour in which all time had stopped and all the humans of the world, destroyed. On Gudi Padva, time restarted and from this day on, the era of New reality and justice began In The World . Therefore, Lord Brahma is worshipped on this day.
